Used Lawn Mower Decks
Mower decks are on of the most important parts of you push or ride on lawn mower, such as the Walker mower. These machines have fairly wide decks that come in a range of sizes, obviously the bigger the better as you can cut more grass. Occasionally people need to replace decks for their Walker mower, for a number of reasons and will often look for used lawn mower decks instead of buying new ones, as they are a lot cheaper.
If you have a big lawn to mow and are tired of pushing a mower in the heat of summer, then you know what you must do - buy a riding lawn mower! If you have a half acre or more, you should seriously consider a riding mower. It drastically cuts down on the amount of time it takes to mow and it is much easier on your body.
Take one trip to your local home improvement store and you’ll likely find over a dozen different mowers with all different features and prices. Your head will be spinning and you’ll walk away more confused than ever. This article will point out some of the most important things to consider when purchasing a riding lawn mower.
Get the widest deck that you can afford. This is the number 1 most important feature on a mower. A wider cutting deck means fewer trips up and down the lawn and you’ll get the job done faster. But you have to make sure that there are no obstacles or tight spots that you will have trouble fitting through. You also have to have a spot to store the Walker mower (if you don’t have a garage or shed you can buy a vinyl cover with elastic that fits over the mower).
Another option that I highly recommend is the ability to switch between mulching, bagging and just blowing the grass out to the side. There are times when you will want to bag and other times when mulching is better, so the more options you have, the better. You should also take note as to how easy or difficult it is to switch between bagging and the other options. It may involve completely removing the bagger or it may be as simple as inserting a stopper into the blade housing.
One feature that saves a lot of time and aggravation is for the mower to have the ability to drive in reverse while the blade is still spinning. Some mowers have a safety feature built in that prevents you from going in reverse until you turn off the blade. This takes a lot of extra time and is a real pain if you have to do lots of backing up around obstacles while mowing.
If you’re going to spend lots of time on this riding Walker mower you should make sure that the seat is relatively comfortable and that it is adjustable. We all have different bodies and legs, so the ability to move the seat closer or farther away from the steering wheel and pedals is a must.
Some other important things to consider (though not as important as the ones already mentioned) are how loud the mower is, what other attachments can be added and does it have a cupholder? The cupholder is very useful and if I didn’t have one to hold my water bottle I would have to make a lot more pit-stops and mowing the lawn would take a whole lot longer. All of these features contribute to saving time and relieving frustration, which is exactly what a riding lawn mower is supposed to do.

Mower Decks and Surprises
I was getting ready to put the 7-Iron Deck on my 3520 last week so I could start the spring mowing. I had the loader on the tractor so I thought I would pick it up and grease it before I put it on.
Why Staggered Deck?
I personally think that staggered deck mowers do mow alot better. The grass gets discharged immediately as it’s cut. Although I think Lawn Boy made the chute too small.
